Sandi Sumner Hendry, owner and founder of MINKY COUTURE designer blankets, started the company with a mission to provide cozy comfort for loved ones in need.

Since 2009 Sandi has had eight grandchildren spend time in a Level 4 NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Sandi quickly learned the value of the specialized care offered by these amazing caregivers.

When her grandson, born at just 30 weeks, was admitted to the NICU, Sandi gave her daughter Jami a little mini blanket to keep next to her own chest and then to place in the incubator with her son. The mini blanket’s cozy feel, along with his mother’s scent, created an environment of support and healing for this precious child.

Sandi’s heart goes out to all these NICU infants. Her desire is for each baby to have a small piece of cozy comfort as they fight for their life. Every year, MINKY COUTURE now donates over 30,000 mini blankets to NICUs across the United States. Our hope is to eventually provide this little comfort for every NICU patient.

“What if…You could help babies survive and thrive for generations to come?”

“What if…You could help babies survive and thrive for generations to come?”

When presented with the question, “WHAT IF…You could help babies survive and thrive for generations to come?”, Sandi responded not just with words but with her heart and wallet:

MINKY COUTURE has pledged to donate $1 million to the new state-of-the-art NICU at Primary Children’s Hospital. We’re working hard to do everything we can to help our tiniest community members.

And this timing couldn’t be more significant: Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital is celebrating a major milestone – its 100th birthday – with leaders marking a century of pediatric care excellence and service to children throughout the Intermountain West by renewing their Primary Promise to keep the ‘Child First and Always’.
